Structural health monitoring

The management of civil engineering structures includes the assessment of their health condition and the early novelty detection, to avoid major issues.

This research topic, initiated with the National project S3 "Surveillance de Santé Structurale des ouvrages (S3)" (funded by the Ile de France regional council and the Direction de la Recherche et de l’Innovation of the ministry for Ecology, sustainable development and energy), aims to define an overall and integrated structural health monitoring in the realm of structural diagnostic and assessment. Novelty detection techniques have been applied for structural health monitoring.

The laboratory also contributes to some national working groups with Cerema on focalized inspections to establish a preventive maintenance strategy. The introduction of these focalized inspections at key periods of the structure service life should enable some savings within the structural management processes.
