Life-cycle analysis of structures

The laboratory leads research on an overall management framework of structures over their entire life-cycle. This approach is in line with the question of the durability of infrastructures for stakeholders through adapted management strategies from a social, economic and environmental perspective. The aim is to consider the management of structures from their construction till their demolition with recycling of waste materials, also including maintenance, repair, rehabilitation and extension of their remaining service life. These concepts have been applied to the design of steel concrete composite bridges within the RFCS European research project SBRI – Sustainable Steel-Composite Bridges in built environment and the consideration of masonry structures as an alternative to concrete within the RGCU C2D2 PEDRA project – Behaviour of dry-stone or weakly bonded structures.
