Seismic risk
The mitigation of seismic vulnerability for existing civil engineering structure is a major goal. Indeed, several structures built before the publication of the current seismic codes are located in earthquake-prone regions. There is a strong need to assess these structures, in particular for critical ones, in order to adequately decide of strengthening interventions. In this context, the numerical modelling of structures under seismic loading provides interesting results and information. The research activities on this topic are organized around two major axes:
- the assessment of the seismic vulnerability of existing structures;
- the seismic retrofitting using fibre composites for reinforced concrete structures.
